The sticky heat was making Jasper boil in her black work uniform. The heat from outside mixed with the heat produced from the kitchen was enough to bring the colour into Jasper's cheeks and her palms sweat an unusual amount. Thankfully, plenty of people were ordering ice cream which meant she got to stick her head in the freezer quite frequently. She'd even talked to her boss to suggest writing an offer on ice creams on the specials board outside the café integrated in the mall - just so she could hide in the freezer more - but the idea got rejected.
Which struck Jasper as silly, really, because if an offer on ice cream was advertised more customers would arrive. Jas wished he had, and that people would stop ordering coffee. The steam from the machine was just adding insult to injury. She could understand the need for caffine, but why not hit the frappucinos? Before picking up the tray - filled with coffee and cake - Jasper wiped her forehead and palms. Though it did little to shift the sheen of water that rested there.
As she made her way from the kitchen to the café floor, Jasper wondered if whether or not she actually liked the summer weather. It sure beat the cold, but it wasn't exactly comfortable. Jas figured she was more of a fall girl; the dying heat and slight breeze was a nice combination. Until it got too cold that was. Now, she knew hated the cold. It made her shiver too much.
Once out on the floor, Jasper noticed a few new customers. Carefully placing the full tray on the designated table, she unloaded it before heading over to the new customer. From the pocket on her pinny Jasper pulled out a notebook and pen. Hovvering by the customer, she gave it a moment before addressing them, as to let them investigate the menu. "Hello, welcome to the Tearooms. Can I take your order?" The café Jas worked for tried to mimic English Tearooms, yet couldn't think of a more creative name. The café floor was filled with small round tables, donned with white table cloths and a mini-vase of flowers as well as the regular condiments.
((I hope this is ok. *hides if we aren't supposed to post yet*))
